Is it That Simple Making Money? Internet Traffic and Beyond

Making a Home in Online Traffic

Are you a traffic exchange owner and know everything already.  If so just zip down to Trial and Error in Traffic Exchange Ownership.

About 15 years ago I created a poker blog looking to earn from referrals or directing traffic.  If you go searching for free traffic, online website hits, get website traffic, etc. you will eventually discover traffic exchanges if not right off the bat.  So there was my first exposure.  Now putting a blog about poker into traffic exchanges failed to earn me any money.  Why did it fail?

Marketing in traffic exchanges is a highly targeted audience for very specific things.  The majority of people in them are probably not poker players.  A person surfing or building credits in a traffic exchange is looking to get free or low cost traffic to their business.  So if you like traffic exchanges, which in my case I did, what does do well in them?

What Does Well in a Traffic Exchange?

  1. Advertising Another Traffic Exchange– Far from rocket science, advertising a place to get more exposure to a person’s business in a way they are already familiar with and using is very targeted.  But as we’ll see later, there is a better approach then just advertising a standard affiliate page.
  2. An Internet Tool to Help Manage Traffic Exchange Business– You’ll see plenty of management software(most include a downline builder, a way of directing referral traffic to traffic exchanges and tools).  It is highly targeted because a person viewing the ad is in a traffic exchange using it and is already familiar with what they are.
  3. Affiliate Programs that Deal with Making Money in Online Business– Most in traffic exchanges are familiar with being an affiliate since a referral url/link is assigned right on signup to bring more people in.

A Future for Traffic Exchanges

Many will estimate that there are over 10,000 traffic exchanges world wide.  Well, it won’t take very long to find out there are a lot of them.  But, most of them have very little traffic.  Just as death and taxes continue, you’re sure to see another traffic launch soon.  Lot’s of people like to take their shot at it and a commercial script has made this even easier to enter the market.

As much as traffic exchange owners would like to see a car manufacturer come in and advertise their brand of car, it is a giant leap from what we see being done currently.  Instead, the target market seems to be very, very specific.  Interestingly, many of the people using te’s(traffic exchanges) own a car.  It’s just that we are not on Ford’s radar.  Our reach in sheer numbers is small compared to a television ad.  It appears that traffic exchange people are here for some very specific reasons.

There are two big ideas to success in traffic exchange marketing.  One is being a website owner and the other is building contacts(building a list).  A website owner doesn’t have to create a traffic exchange but they are so highly targeted that many do.  There is a lot less risk in creating something that is time proven.  But maybe you are one of those people that thinks that being ordinary is the greatest risk off all.  Website ownership has some amazing advantages.  If you run a successful te then you are collecting email addresses in the process of building a client base that purchases from you.  To me double punch is the words I think of.

If you don’t have the funds and/or resources for website ownership you can start with an autoresponder and a splash/capture page maker.  Now you will be tasked with the great challenge of having something of VALUE to convince someone to give you their email address.  Then you must have emails that are worth listening too.  You must keep people’s attention.  I want to stress that this is not an easy task.  Don’t underestimate it and don’t quit your job thinking you’re gonna be a traffic exchange expert.

I feel that there is such a large population that give up in our industry and I really do feel like asking is there something I could have done different for them?  Now if a person looks at the work, is properly informed about what to expect, then decide it isn’t for them… Well, then it’s like anything else in life.  They are just looking for something different.

Trial and Error in Traffic Exchange Ownership

At this moment in time, April 13th, 2017, we are about to release a new currency for the traffic exchange industry.  Promotional currency isn’t a new concept, yet, we will put our dedication and enthusiasm into a project designed to help the industry we care about.  The Legacy Team likes to work from home, likes marketing, and likes traffic exchanges.  If you’re a part of this industry as advertiser, hobbyist, or traffic exchange owner we encourage you to support this new effort in community and network.

As I reflect now, after five years, myself a surfer, I feel like I have a greater instinct about the motivations of people that use traffic exchanges.  One or more of these probably cover our community:  People use the sites to make money, be visible(active branding), collect email addresses for lead generation or share thoughts, entertainment, be part of a group, and/or because they like playing which of these icons are not like the others 🙂

Whatever your reason, we invite you to join the Legacy Team

Sincerely,

Marcus Wahl

Leave Nothing to Chance, Hard Core Business

Blind Gambling is Not Business

Don’t go into business blind and don’t be led by the blind.  Don’t want to be led a stray?  Then make sure a company is actually making money before you weigh their advice heavily.  I don’t believe luck is the reason most businesses succeed, and for that matter, I think people that believe they control their destiny have a greater success rate in life.

Make sure you read the whole thing so you don’t miss 2016’s business trends and how they relate to the traffic exchange industry.

All Great Businesses have 4 things.  Presence, Knowledge, the Ability to Evolve, and Service at Heart.

   1. Presence or Brand– It’s interesting that they say 97% of people in our industry won’t make any money and it’s a similar percentage that fail to get themselves out there.  They fail to be known, to have a presence, to stand for anything, to become a brand.  We devised a tool to help get you out there, Brandmetool.  However, brand will ultimately depend on the entire soul of your business, resembling more of the 4 above components combined.

   2. Knowledge– Researching things is crucial to your success.  I missed that step when I first began and I hope you don’t make the same mistake.  It was a turning point for me when I decided to dig in to information about online business as far as knowledge is concerned.  Now I have books by my bedside.  Keep yourself sharp by reading up.  Don’t you want to give yourself the best chance at success?  Many big business names will praise self-education.

   3. The Ability to Evolve– People are creatures of habit.  It can be difficult to change.  However, with certainty, one thing we can predict is that things will change.  Successful businesses will anticipate it, accept and embrace it, and will boldly try changes.  They understand the importance of creating markets, being first to market, and making an industry react to them instead of the other way around.

   4. Serving People– Make products to help people.  Help others and don’t make me quote Zig Ziglar again stating to help enough people get where they want to go and you get where you need to go 🙂  Customer service is a great way to build relationships and always remember that the way you treat people reflects on your business.  Have a heart for people and many will reward you back with a love for your brand.

I wanted to get very specific about success in our industry.  Whether you become an affiliate list builder or take on website ownership, these core principles remain critical.

   1. Design– You need to look good and show people that your serious.  Without design, people will over look what you have to offer on your website.  You will lose your customer before they even get in the door.  Also, the quality of your advertisement design is directly related to how well they do.  We can refer you to someone we used for design in the past, but honestly, the designs of our websites are not as good as we want them to be.

   2. Programming– Having special things about your site makes you stick out.  I understand many will take on a commercial script, but if you do that, you really need to set out to make yourself unique and offer value with added features.  This brings us to the next point.  This point has more to do with website ownership.

   3. Take Care of SalesSee As a Man SELLeth, Life or Death Business.

   4. Don’t be Underfunded– If there is something that really plagues are industry it’s people believing they can set up shop with a bare commercial script and roll in the dough.  I have a lot of compassion for people making this mistake as I did it myself.

   5. Relationships– To do things right, you really should be meeting people, especially the big names in the industry and forming relationships with them before you release your product.  Places to do it include webinars, skype(mcwahl2), facebook, twitter, traffic exchange chats, etc.

The next points I make I want to show you how our industry isn’t an island.  Big business trends many times are small business trends as well.

   6. Using Video– Sometimes it seems that our industry lags behind technology and trends.  Perhaps, a resistance to change.  Video will help you to stick out, which many will agree that marketing is a competition for attention.  Video gives a personal touch and in our industry it’s under used most likely because people are shy to get in front of the camera.  That just makes it easier for you because your gonna do what it takes to be successful.  Your gonna get yourself out there right?  Take a look at the projections for video use in business from Hubspot.

   7. Influencer Marketing– It’s really quite amazing to me how many buying decisions and signups come with the support from big names in the traffic exchange industry.  It makes all the sense in the world to network and communicate with them.  View how we worked with an industry giant in the Legacy Hits Story.  See this previous post how influencer marketing is exploding in all kinds of businesses, 2 Powerful Elements to Influencer Marketing Chemistry.

All this information can be handed out freely, but, now it’s in your hands.  You must have the heart to see it all through if you don’t want to become the statistic of the 97% that walk away from the industry empty handed.

Why Google, Facebook, and Twitter are Absolutely Awful!

Pay Per Click Advertising

Pay per click advertising is very expensive from google, facebook, and twitter.  I want to present you with a quick case study.  View the following results of using google adwords and facebook to advertise Brandmetool.

The only branding I got were text ads and a small visual on facebook.  I got one referral for $8.05.  Let’s contrast this with purchasing a login spotlight.  I’ll get 100’s of full page unique visual views, targeted traffic, and a cost of 3.00.  Or for 8.00 you could easily pick up 8,000 views.  I’ll most likely pick up more than 1 referral on a login spotlight.  Even if I didn’t, the branding alone is worth the cost.  I’m currently running an experiment on other sites spending the same amount on login spotlights as I did with google and facebook.  I’ll update you with the results.

For the sake of completeness, I have tried twitter advertising and found that they charge outrageous prices for engagements in which you may not even get a view of your website.

What are Twitter, Facebook, and Google(Organic) good for?  It’s free advertising that you should get from them.

It takes very little effort to form a tribe of people to like and tweet things from the group.  We all have different collections of twitter followers and facebook friends.

The issue is that the item being shared has to meet a quality guideline suitable for the whole group to share.

We can’t expect everyone to blast out something of low quality.  Want to super charge your network?  Come visit us at 6pm eastern every Monday-Friday at Blab.im  It’s free to meet everyone.  Just look for the show labeled “Legacy Hours”.

It really is silly for us to not get together and leverage something of incredible free power, twitter and facebook.  It takes seconds to like or tweet something.

Everyone should reach out to marketers and work from home people with content marketing and we can easily amplify it’s reach with social media.  This seems like the most direct, cheapest, and easy plan to traffic exchange growth doesn’t it?

If your new to traffic exchanges I would like to present the following articles on targeting and the target of traffic exchanges.

Target Market- Feeding a Carrot to a Dog is Futile

The Only Way to Make Serious Money at Traffic Exchanges

The key words I mentioned earlier and related words are great examples of target products that would do well in traffic exchanges.

Need an easy way to describe what traffic exchanges do?

Humor: I’ll show you mine if you show me yours or It’s Like Show and Tell.

Direct: You view my site and I’ll view yours or a Network of People Sharing their Sites.

Just a note to advertisers, it only takes you the time to set up your ad if your in a hurry.

In summary, traffic exchange advertising and it’s network are grossly overlooked.  Make them work for you and don’t become a google, facebook, or twitter statistic of failed advertising.  Hopefully, this article meets your quality demand so we can share this thing all over the place, up and down the river, and everywhere but the kitchen sink.  Go Traffic Exchanges!

The Only Way to Make Serious Money at Traffic Exchanges

What Exactly is the Target of Traffic Exchange Traffic

Serious Email Marketers includes TE owners that are serious email marketers.
Marketers/Affiliates includes people that own their own product.

Note: If You Don’t Know What a Traffic Exchange is Read This.

1. Serious Email Marketers– These are people that are emailing on a regular basis.  Whether they are a Traffic Exchange owner, Mailer, Paid to Click, List Builder using Giveaways, or Misc. Website Owner, they see the importance of staying in contact and will eventually be in profit by sending emails.

2. Traffic Exchange Owners– There is most likely well over 1,000 of these in existence.  Yet, only a few experience significant income.  It is quite possible that some owners make more money from their membership base list(sending emails) than the traffic exchange.  A traffic exchange is a list building tool.

3. Marketers/Affiliates– The largest portion of the traffic.  This includes anyone that is selling anything.  It could be a tool, information, or an advertising affiliate of another traffic exchange.

4. Income Seekers– This group will have a lot of new people to the industry in it.  They are looking to make money.  I see this group as being more likely to program hop in their attempts to earn.  They might skip research and perform the proverbial follow the shiny object.  It’s really unfortunate because if they researched the right product and formulated a plan it would give their brand(presence) a much better future.  Also, because they are new they may be focusing on earning small amounts of cash such as prizes by surfing.  They may not understand the business concept yet.

5. Hobbyists– These people have time on there hands and find traffic exchanges to be entertaining.  This group may have a lot of retired people in it.  Their mindset is that if they make some money it’s an added bonus.  They tend to enjoy themselves either way.  They have no intention of taking this business as serious or worrying about a significant income.

The Order of Money Making Potential in this Industry

  1. New Product– This does depend on the strength of your idea.  It also depends on the quality of design, programming, and marketing you do.  It takes the time of idea creation and development.  Most likely the product will complement the existing industry.  There may be more risk here as it isn’t a tried and proven product, but, the lack of competition spells potential bigger gains.
  2. Traffic Exchange, Mailer, or Paid to Click– Tried and proven to make money with the proper contacts, design, programming, marketing, and site understanding, these are common first steps in website ownership.  While the industry doesn’t so much need carbon copies, it’s understandable why some passionate people want to open their own.  It’s important to note that these sites are also list builders by simply being membership sites that collect emails.
  3. List Building– By providing something of value and often times giving it away for free, email addresses can be collected.  It really boils down to a value exchange.  With your emails giving out helpful information you have the hopes that your recipients well take your good suggestions and join things with you.
  4. Straight Advertising with Splash Pages and Banners– You can still bring people into programs without worrying about getting their email address.  However, you should be able to see how you won’t be able to make a repeat contact.  Repeat contacts are potential sales and makes for a more efficient business.

In your advertising efforts, with any of the above methods you have the ability to use your picture and/or logo to keep your presence(brand) at the top of every ones minds.  In time people will come to recognize you and what you stand for.

Strengthen your presence(brand) by participating in the community.  You can use traffic exchange chats, social media participation, webinars, and emails.

In summary, this entire execution is possible with Action and Planning.  I’ll leave you with a quote.

“Vision Without Execution is Delusion.”- Author Unknown

Guy Hits Hurdle Wrong Good for Viral Business?

Greetings,

As I address this subject further, you may be interested in a previous blog post on viral advertising.

Predictable viral word of mouth advertising begins with the vision of an individual or small group.  I mention the word predictable because a youtube video of a track runner catching a hurdle just the wrong way, if you know what I mean, is well, unplanned*.  Back to executing viral…

*Unless your a goofus that practices shooting a video of you acting like your messing up on a hurdle.  Which crazy enough, I might try if I thought it would further traffic exchanges.

Granted this only had 100,000 views but you get the point.

Now let’s look at the traffic exchange communities, the Cash Surfing Network and the Plus 1 Daily.  The passionate and knowledgeable people meet at webinars currently hosted at Blab.  CSN is at 6pm eastern Monday-Friday and P1D is at 4pm eastern Monday-Thursday.

CSN is headed by Marcus Wahl, Ken Locatelli, Rodney Hage, and Eric Goettman.  Plus 1 Daily is headed by Justin Ledvina, Jon Olson, and Tim Linden.  These are the individual/small groups that see a greater vision for the industry.

Now begins the reaching out process, the spread.  Obviously, there are people that support the webinars or what would be the point of doing them and members support traffic exchanges because that is what makes them work.  We greatly appreciate that support because we understand that without it, there is nothing.  These small groups of passionate supporters reach out to communities they are involved in and the growth process goes further.

Remember, you represent your community.  Might I add that it is value that attracts people and keeps the ball rolling.  Now let’s talk about the vehicle of our message.  We could open our door at home and yell, “Hey, have you heard about traffic exchanges?  They are really great!” but we would probably just bother our neighbors.  Instead, our target is more online as that is where our industry is hosted (I’m not saying that going to a live convention of marketers could not be a productive place to discuss traffic exchanges).

Online methods of reaching communities include facebook, twitter, g+, and linkedin.  These sites have tons of people using them and are full of micro communities.  People gravitate towards picking specialties within these sites and in business because small groups/individuals handle very specific topics well.

The seven of us mentioned above can’t reach every place that we need to be, but, a group can.  Use main stream social media, forums, message boards, emails, and anything that is your specialty, because a larger industry is one that will support your business.

If you see the future with us or enjoyed the article then give it a little social love right below ya. Heck, comment on the post so people see you when they come here.  Let them know your interested in something greater.
